Still Wakes The Deep – Review

Still Wakes The Deep, is a game that does an amazing job to keep you on edge throughout the entire playtime. From what I have experienced, I can easily say that this game is going to be remembered as a great example of its genre. Even though the game has approximately 4-5 hours of play time, in this short span of time the game manages to make you feel connected to the characters in the game as well as giving you a background story as to why our main character Caz is there in the first place.

If you are expecting a “fight with the enemies” type of gameplay, then this is not going to be your type of game. Despite the lack of combat, the game is not a simple walking simulator. It’s a story of a man who has loved ones waiting for him; who has some friends he refuses to turn his back on; a man who desperately wants to live. It’s a short summary of no matter how hard you try to run away from your problems, there will always be new ones waiting for you just around the corner.

From the music chosen in the game to the atmosphere and graphics are just fantastic. Also the game ends right before you think its getting boring so they did a good job on that part as well. Instead of constantly seeing works from AAA companies, experiencing this type of games from other companies makes me excited and when the game is this good, its just cherry on top.

As with everything else in life, all good things have to come to an end. This game does have its own flaws. It forces you to feel like you have to be the savior of the whole thing.
A whole bunch of people on deck (heh), but it gave me the feeling that I am the only one who is trying to stay alive. The game was going great until the very end, but the way the story turned out in the end wasn’t it for me. I was expecting a better ending. Not a completely happy/sad ending, but something that would make me feel like our efforts were worth something.

Summary:
Still Wakes The Deep is a fantastic piece of work. The game locks you in and let you enjoy a great storytelling experience. Other than how the story finish in the end, the game will not fail to please you. Get your drink, strap on and enjoy your ride!
